The ‘beauty buzz’ looks to try this spring
From zingy brights swiped across the eyelids to silky-soft mermaid waves – this seasons runway trends are perfectly relatable for us all to enjoy
Soft peach-hued lips and cheeks instantly add youth and freshness to a face. Makeup artist Mark Carrasquillo created a flushed look at JW Anderson by applying a lipstick to the tops of the cheekbones, sweeping down to the apples of the cheeks for a ‘young and peachy, but also rebellious’ look. Skin is almost bare so freckles show through and lipstick so effortless it looks like the model applied it herself.

Models at Philosophy wore their hair with super-soft, wavy tendrils flipped over in a subtle side-part for a cooler take on this season’s mermaid hair trend. To recreate this look, wash hair and towel-dry, then work a blob of curl-enhancing cream through the lengths. Roughly blow-dry your hair using a diffuser, and scrunch the lengths to add waves and texture. Finish with a mist of dry shampoo through the mids-to-ends of your hair to give a tousled, silky-soft finish.

One simple swipe of lipstick can change your whole look. The models pouted their way down the runways at Versus with nearly fluorescent, very tangy orange lipstick. The trick for making it work for right now? A matte formula that’s worn with skin that glows and minimal eye makeup - mascara wiggled in the roots of the lashes cheats eye definition without any of the fluttery fullness of pulling mascara through to the ends. Bleached out brows and mussed up hair add a bad girl vibe.

Pat McGrath used her fingers to smudge iridescent cobalt blue across the models eye lids at Victoria Beckham - which she referred to as a ‘freedom technique’ when creating the look using the products from Beckham's collection with Estée Lauder. Finish with brown mascara, and forego full-on brows, blusher and lipstick - anything more than a simple base (flawless foundation and radiance-boosting serum) will pitch this into glam territory.

IT’S A WRAP
The ‘wrap plait style’ at Erdem created a serious buzz backstage with the inspiration being 16th Century romantic braids. To recreate, apply a texturising spray throughout the entire lengths of hair then blast dry for a disheveled texture. Using medium-barrelled tongs curl the hair in different directions around the head. Create a centre-parting and collect the hair making two pigtails at the nape of the neck, leaving a few tendrils framing your face. Plait each section, secure and then destroy the plaits by rubbing them in the palms of your hands. Wrap around each other and pin to the head creating a tousled knot that’s flat to the head. Finish with a strong hold hairspray and a matte black ribbon securing it into a bow beneath your ear.
