Top Hair Styles this Autumn

It’s officially winter now - and time for a hair revamp. Wave farewell to salt sprays and messy locks and usher in more polished, grown up look to suit the season. Here are some ideas based on looks we’ve loved from the fashion capitals to help you switch up your hairstyle for cooler months.

Bardot Pony

Add this 60’s low ponytail to your up-do repertoire; it’s simple, modern and sophisticated all at once.

Get the look:

1) Get your hair sleek by running a nice smoothing balm like SHOW Beauty Riche Grooming Balm or Pure Treatment Oil through the lengths and straighten if needed.

2) Brush hair away from your face and into the low ponytail with a bristle brush such as a Mason and Pearson and secure with a thin hair band.

3) Take a thin strand of hair from the bottom of the ponytail and wrap around the band to disguise it.

4) Finish with a shine spray with medium hold such as Premiere Finishing Spray to keep frizz at bay throughout the day.

Bouncy Waves

Think of these as a winter version of summery loose hair, this time featuring slightly more glossy and structured waves that are chunky, chic and give off an air of being effortless.

Get the look:

1) Spritz all over with a light hairspray like Premiere Finishing Spray, then follow with a heat protectant like Sheer Thermal Protect to keep strands from getting fried.

2) Gather the hair that hangs in the front sections around your face on either side and split each into two sections.

3) Using 1 1/2-inch curling tongs curl those sections away from your face. To get slight bends instead of bulky curls or ringlets, start the curl a few inches away from the root and release the hair after just a few seconds.

4) Finish up the rest of the body of your hair alternating the direction in which you wrap the sections so that you get a natural pattern instead of princess-y waves.

5) Break up the curls with your fingers - not a brush - before spritzing the ends with Premiere Working Texture Spray.

Bedhead and Bangs

This is a bit messy and very tousled aka morning hair, taken up a notch.

Get the look:

1) You’re working with the natural texture of your hair, so you want to enhance that. Try using Lux Volume Mousse or Couture Curl Enhancing Lotion depending on your hair texture through damp hair, scrunch in and leave to dry naturally overnight or diffuse dry.

2) Blow dry the fringe or front portion so that it sits smoothly with a round brush, pointing the nozzle of the dryer downwards as you dry.

3) Finish with some Pure Treatment Oil smoothed through the ends and skim a little over the top of your hair to reduce frizz and fly-aways.

Hat Hair

A straight, long bob with plenty of texture perfectly complements a felt fedora or wide-brimmed trilby. Go for this one when you’re in a hurry to disguise slightly ragged hair in need of a trip to the hairdresser…

Get the look:

1) This one is easy! Mist Premiere Working Texture Spray through the lengths of your hair to give the bits that will be poking out volume and texture.

2) Pop your hat on, spritz with a perfume like Decadence Hair Fragrance and you’re good to go!
