A: We’ve all been there: desperate to squeeze in a gym session after work with no time to wash and restyle before heading straight out. Don’t worry - there are plenty of ways to transform the frizzy, lanky mess that is post-treadmill hair. Here are our top tips after you’ve broken a heavy sweat:
Avoid tight bands. Slinging hair up into a tight ponytail is the fastest way to keep your hair out of your face when you’re working out - but it’s also a fast track to having a big fat kink. Avoid band dents and breakage by using an Invisibobble or a hair clip.
Prep well. Ideally you should mist SHOW Beauty Premiere Dry Shampoo onto your scalp before your work out to absorb sweat and oil as you go and stop your whole head of hair from becoming saturated. Top tip from the pros: Don’t use dry shampoo post-workout or it could leave behind a cakey residue - if you’re using it to help mop up grease, do it before you start spinning.
Be gentle. When hair is frizzy from a work out, the cuticles rise and the shaft becomes more fragile, so don’t use any old brush to detangle. Instead, stroke through gently with a wide-toothed comb or Tangle Teezer, making sure you start at the ends and working your way up to the roots for minimal breakage.
Reboot your bounce. If you have curly hair, but the waves have dropped and you need to inject some fresh oomph, smooth through Couture Curl Enhancing Lotion, shake your head to separate strands and leave to air-dry. Voila.
Invest in mini flatirons. The quickest way to style short hair that can’t be thrown up into a quick up do = running over it with flat irons to smooth frizz and kinky ends.
Plaiting your hair.Braids keep the hair out of your face as you exercise and - when you have cooled down and release them, you’ll get the added bonus of the textured kinks. Similarly, a loose, high bun will give you tonnes of volume after a workout. When you're done shake loose and spritz with Premiere Working Texture Spray for beautiful waves.
Use a hair fragrance. SHOW Beauty Decadence Hair Fragrance will neutralise odour and refresh, hydrate and condition your hair.
